

Dorothy C. Stevenson, 95, of Edwardsville, passed away March 2, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30, with funeral services at 2:30, on Saturday, March 5th, all at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action, 1600 Washington Boulevard, Kansas City, Kansas 66102.
Dorothy was born December 3, 1920 in Morris, Kansas. She graduated from Argentine High School and later Kansas City Kansas Junior College and the University of Kansas. Dorothy was a 4th grade teacher for Muncie Elementary for many years and also received her Cosmetology degree after retiring at the age of 64. She was an avid crafter, weaving wheat and quilling paper, and often gave demonstrations at Grinter Place and the Renaissance Festival. She also was a very active volunteer for Cancer Action, with over 10,000 hours crocheting afghans. Dorothy loved to travel and her trip around the world was one of her greatest adventures, aside from being a wife and mother to two. Her beloved husband, Edwin Stevenson, passed away in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Romie and Daisy Evans; and her sisters, Angela Rose Schletzbaum and Mary J. Reifsteck.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Rosemeri Dunwiddie, and Kevan Stevenson (Patricia); her four grandchildren, Scott Dunwiddie (Wendy), Bruce Dunwiddie (Toni), Jennifer White (Ross), and Phillip Stevenson; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Brendan, Patrick, Molly Dunwiddie, Amanda, Lisa and Jason Dunwiddie, and Emily White, and many friends and family.
