Douglas was a very kind and caring man with a huge heart and a great sense of humor who dearly loved his family. He was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. When Douglas walked into a room, everyone welcomed his wonderful smile. Douglas was a very quiet person, but his smile lit up the room and he always added to the conversation. He will be remembered as handsome man with curly blond hair.
Douglas returned to our Lord on September 7, 2024, at the age of 67 years. Douglas entered this life on March 23, 1957, in Chanute, Kansas. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Washington High School in 1975, he was granted a degree in History from Emporia State University. He married Reva Cordray, and after her passing he spent his remaining years in Osage City, Kansas.
Douglas loved family reunions, travel to historical places, fishing, gardening, Royals baseball games, and having fun while creating memories at family gatherings. He especially loved his nieces and nephews of which there are many. Douglas faced challenges and struggled through life’s difficulties with optimism, courage, strength, and his ever-present smile. Douglas loved to be with his Mom and Dad, helping with chores, gardening, and with his “green thumb” he kept a beautiful lawn. His fondest memories were of family vacations to Yellowstone and Chaco National Parks. He loved adventure and cherished the beauty of nature.
Douglas loved his children, donuts, green tea, watching MASH, going to Royals Baseball games, Oceans of Fun with his children, nieces and nephews, and giving to Charities.
Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Reva and his father, Eldon. Douglas is survived by his mother Mary Sue Braman and brothers Michael (Barbara), Victor (Michele) and Randall (Veronica, deceased). He is survived by his grandchildren, Amber Braun, Josh Smith, Ashley Pryor, Clara Sands, and Danielle Babas, and many great-grandchildren.
Douglas’ smile always brought happiness and cheer to all who knew and loved him. He will truly be missed. We pray that Douglas will rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord.
