

Eugene L. Slater, 85, of Linn Valley, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013. Visitation will be Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, Kansas. The visitation will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Eugene will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, Kansas.
Eugene was born November 20, 1927 in Harvey, Arkansas. Eugene joined the Army and served his country during the occupation of Germany and also during the Korean War. He married Audine Williams March 22, 1949 and moved to Kansas City, KS in 1953. Eugene loved gardening, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He also enjoyed gathering with family and friends, talking Chiefs football and telling a good story.
He was preceded in death by his parents Flora and Willie Slater, his wife Audine Slater, his sister Ella Mae Jenson, his daughter Susan Amrheine, and son Robert Slater.
He is survived by his sons Don Slater and his wife Warlinde, Johnnie Slater and daughter Shelley Bradbury, brother Euldene Slater, sister Margie Allen and her husband Dan, 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Robyn, Aunalise, Danielle, Jeremiah, Sarah, and 7 great grandchildren Christina, Robert, Halyn, Sage, Sarah, Aiden, Donovan and Layla.
Eugene will be missed by many that were touched by his presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
