

Eula J. (Riley) Smith, 84, passed away June 17, 2015. A visitation will be held Monday, June 22nd from 9:00 -10:00 AM with the funeral service at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Phone: 913-334-3366. Interment will follow services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 West 75th, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
Eula was born July 7, 1930 to Ernest Trent and Gertrude May (Kent) Throckmorton. Throughout her life, she lived in Troy, Basehor, Tonganoxie, and Kansas City, Kansas as well as Springfield, Missouri. During her time in the Kansas City, Kansas area, she was a member of Victory Hills Baptist Church. At Victory Hills she was a member of the Hilltoppers and the Baptist Women’s Fellowship. Eula was an avid Chiefs and KU basketball fan. She loved to quilt, bowl, and fish in her free time.
Eula was preceded in death by her husbands; Walker Allen Riley and Lawrence Smith; son, M. Alan Bedell; son-in-law, Tony Kalielkilo, daughter-in-laws, Linda Bedell and Iris Riley; brother, Melvin Throckmorton and sister, Betty Roarke.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Roxanna Kaliekilo; son, M. Tony Bedell; daughter, Teresa (Ken) Steele; son, Patrick (Carrie) Riley; son, Steve (Rae Ann) Smith; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister, Bonnie Monahan.
