Fannie A. Young, 88, passed away April 4, 2013. A visitation will be at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, April 9th from 10-11 AM with a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 1, Kansas City, KS.
Fannie was born to Walter and Rae Young in Winsted, CT. She attended Hunters College in NYC where she earned her degree in Medical Technology. After college, Fannie joined the Women’s Army Corp and worked at Ft. Lawton in Washington as a Lab Technician. While at Ft. Lawton, she met Dennis. They married in September of 1946. Fannie left the military to become a domestic engineer and mother of 5. In her later life, she was the commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 1, Kansas City, KS.
Fannie was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Young and a grandchild, Stephanie Young. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dennis Young, Sr.; 4 sons, Dennis (Rosemary)Young, Jr., Walter (Mary Evelyn) Young, Kern (Charlene) Young, and Lynn Young, a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Young; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
