

Freida N. Howerton, 90, of Edwardville, KS, passed away Thursday, April 10th. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16th at Elm Grove Baptist Church, 15774 Linwood Rd., Bonner Springs, KS 66012, with Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Freida was born January 30, 1924 in Edwardsville, KS to Orville and Maybelle Lowe. She grew up in the Edwardsville and Kansas City area and was a longtime member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. Freida married the love of her life, Vernon Howerton and they enjoyed many years together. She took excellent care of her home and she enjoyed sewing and quilting as well has playing bingo and cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Maybelle, her husband, Vernon Howerton, her daughter, Connie Foster, her son, Gary Howerton; and her siblings, Hazel Umbenhower, Helen Lowe, LaVonne Holmes, Wilbur Lowe, Lloyd Lowe, Eugene Lowe, Lawrence Lowe.
Freida is survived by her brother, Raymond Lowe (Blanche) of Oskaloosa; sister-in-law, Nora “Irene” Lowe of Bonner Springs; grandchildren, Jennifer Daniels of Kansas and John Foster of the Lake of the Ozarks; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other friends and family.
