

After a long and wonderful life as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, George “Bob” Scholtz, age 99, passed away February 7, 2016 at the Presbyterian Manor, 7850 Freeman in Kansas City, Kansas.
George was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 6, 1917 to George Christian and Anna Elizabeth Scholtz. George was the eldest of 5 children. His brothers and sisters were Don, Ed, Mary Ann and Matilda and all preceded him in death.
George attended Chelsea Elementary, Northwest Jr. High and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1938.
On August 3, 1938, George married his high school sweetheart, Martha A. (Myers) at the United Bethren Church, 32nd & Parallel in Kansas City, Kansas. After 64 years of marriage, Martha passed away in 2003 after a bout of Ovarian Cancer. They had 2 daughters.
George served his country proudly during WWII in the Army Air Corp. as a sheet metal specialist and was very proud to boast that he taught “Rosie the Riveter” how to rivet. After leaving the service, George worked for TWA, Pacific Airmotive, Mid Continent Airmotive, Southwest Airmotive, Trailmobile Inc., and Omni Air. George retired in 1986 from Swan Engineering and Supply.
George was a Notary Public from 1963-1986 and received his Nobel Grand Degree from the Chelsea I.O.O.F Lodge #564 in 1952.
He loved the outdoors and all sports including baseball, bowling, fishing, golfing and working in the yard. He also liked to repair things in his home workshop. After retiring, George bowled 2 days a week at the Ranch Bowling Alley at 57th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas until he was 92 years old.
George is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Larry) Simpson and Janene (Jim) Brown of Kansas City, Kansas; 1 granddaughter, Marsha (Mike) Bergman of Raymore, Missouri; three grandsons, Trent (Tammy) Simpson of Peoria, Illinois, Eric Simpson of Kansas City, Kansas and Matthew (Sara) Brown of Oxford, Mississippi. George was very proud of his 2 great-granddaughters, Sarah Simpson and Camryn Hays-Brown and three great-grandsons, Dillon Hays-Brown, Grant and Jay Brown. George was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kyle Simpson of Peoria, Illinois.
George did not know a stranger and was loved by all that knew him. He leaves many happy family memories and will be truly missed by all.

Services will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112 on Saturday, February 13th at 11am. Visitation will be 1 hour before services the funeral home. Burial immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
