Gerald (Jerry) Congrove, 75, of Kansas City, Kansas, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 3, 2011. Jerry will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jerry was born on July 1, 1935 in Effingham, Kansas, to Ernest Alexander and Leona Mary (Jarratt) Congrove. He married the love of his life, Shirley S. Chambers on May 20, 1956. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. Jerry worked as a Cartographer with the Defense Mapping Agency. He enjoyed his time serving on Mission trips. He served on the GCF Mission Committee. His activities included: hiking, mountain climbing and participating in the MS 150 bike ride. He also served as an Elder at Stony Point Christian Church and Grace Christian Fellowship Church. He loved spending time with his family, friends and serving his community and church. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley S. Congrove of the home; daughter, Cheryl Davis and her husband Rod; son, Craig Congrove and his wife Ann. Also Left behind to cherish his memory are his 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; two brothers, Jim Congrove and Bob Congrove; and sister, Carolyn Taliaferro. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at the funeral home.
