

Glenn J. Hackathorn, 84, of KCK, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 26th at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., KCK.
Glenn was born May 15, 1930 in Welborn, KS to Giles R. and Alma L. Hackathorn. He grew up in Oskaloosa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School. Glenn was drafted into the Marines and served in Manila and Hawaii. After his return, Glenn was joined in marriage to Katherine Morris on April 27, 1957. He worked for the railroad as an electrician for 39 years and was involved in the Electrician’s Union. Glenn was also a member of the Union Pacific Oldtimer’s Club. He played basketball, baseball and football when he was younger and enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting in later years. Glenn was beloved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Giles Hackathorn, Jr., Evalyn Hook, Dell McKay and Vernon Hackathorn.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katherine Hackathorn of the home; his daughters, Cynthia Hackathorn of Arlington, TX, and Glenda Shatto of KCK; his grandchildren, Chris Shatto (Mary Beth), and Tessa Hackathorn; his great-granddaughter, Maya Shatto; his siblings, Grant Hackathorn (Phyllis), Gordon Hackathorn, Nancy Morris (Charles), Bub Hackathorn (Ellen), Norman Hackathorn (Cheryl), and Larry “Pete” Hackathorn (Linda); as well as many nieces, nephews and other friends and family.
