

Harrison “Harry” Orr, 98, passed away Sept. 28, 2012. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Private interment in Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice of Lenexa.
Harry was born October 28, 1913 in California, Missouri to Charles Walter and Sarah Melissa (Birdsong) Orr. He grew up in Missouri and moved to the Kansas City area as a young man. Harry served in World War II in the Army Signal Corps. He worked as a bus driver for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority for over 30 years, which he truly enjoyed. Harry married the love of his life, Lois Moody, on December 27, 1945; they were members of the Lead Hill Baptist Church in Mansfield, Missouri and still send their tithes regularly. Harry loved gardening and was a great handyman, his family thought that there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and there wasn’t a tree or plant he couldn’t identify. Harry loved the Lord, and he took delight in telling the "stories of his life" to anyone that would listen. His wife Lois was his whole life, he called her “his lovely sweetheart.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sarah as well as four sisters and two brothers, Della Orr West, Dolly Orr Tillery, Betty Orr Bailey, and Theola Orr Walker, Jacob Orr, Fremont Orr.
Harry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois Orr and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other family.
