

Helen Price, an 82 year old resident of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Cremation will be accorded, and Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23rd at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street. Committal Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 23rd at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family requests contributions be made to Presbyterian Manor or Wayside Waifs.
Helen was born July 28, 1929 in Burton South Carolina to Adam and Grace (Gurkin) Price. After graduation from Beaufort High School in Beaufort, South Carolina, Helen Joined the Air Force, where she became a WAF, and honorably served during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Medal. After her discharge from the Air Force in 1956, Helen worked in Production for the Goodyear Tire Plant in Akron, Ohio until she moved to Kansas City, where she remained a resident for the rest of her life. While in Kansas City, she worked as a Key Punch Operator for the Federal Aviation Administration until her retirement. Helen was a member of the Wornall Road Baptist Church, and she enjoyed golfing and gardening. She also enjoyed collecting Nut Crackers, shopping and watching football, as she was an avid Kansas City Chiefs Fan. Helen loved dogs, and always had one as her companion, her latest being Annie the Poodle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 nephew.
Survivors include 1 brother, Roy Price of Norfolk, Nebraska; 3 sisters, Louise Tadlock of Kansas City, Missouri, Jean Blaine of Overland Park, Kansas, and Eleanor Price of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of nieces and nephews.
