

Howard L. Ross departed this life on February 28, 2014 at the home. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7th at the Kansas City Community Church, 5901 Leavenworth Rd., Kansas City, Kansas 66104, with a time of visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. preceding the service. Interment with Honors will be 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 10th in Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, Kansas, 66048.
Howard L. Ross was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on August 3, 1934 to Edward T. Ross and Pearl A. Newton-Ross, to this union, 11 children were born. Both parents, brothers, Edward L. Ross, Paul L. Ross, Robert D. Ross, Wivigan M. Ross and Denver H. Ross; sisters, Georgia A. Ross, Freda Ross Walden and Barbara A. Ross; and children, Howard Ross and Gina Ross Harris all preceded him in death. He was educated in Claremore, Oklahoma and later in Denver, Colorado; from there, he joined the Navy and fought in the Korean War after moving to KC, he joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church then later moved his membership to Ark Christian Center, under leadership of Gus Franklin, then later Aubrey Singleton, until Howard’s health began to fail. But Howard’s faith in God never failed.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Regina Turner Ross of the home; daughters, Brieann Ross-Davis (Kenderick) of Kansas City, Kansas and Senora Burton of Leavenworth, Kansas; sons, Chay Ross of Kansas City, Kansas, Michael A. Ross of Kansas City, Kansas and Howard Ross of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Maxine Bankhead and Lelia Johnson, all of Kansas City, Kansas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
