

Hubert W. “Bud” Seymour, 91, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home in Kansas City, KS, where he had been under hospice care for the past two weeks. Funeral Services will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 24th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Bud was born September 20, 1918 in Kansas City, KS to Oscar N. and Lillian F. (Willis) Seymour. He was a lifelong area resident, graduating as part of the first graduating class from the current Wyandotte High School in 1936. A lover of ballroom dancing, he married his dancing sweetheart, Clytie A. Payton on a dare on September 7, 1941. They celebrated their 68th Anniversary this year. Bud served the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department for 20 years as Firefighter, Captain, and then Inspector before retiring in 1972. He was also a house painter, a laborer for Patti Construction Company, and he ran the Christmas Tree Lot at the old City Market for many years. Bud was a member of I.A.F.F. local 64, and an active member on Grandview Christian Church, serving in many positions over the last 60 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Wyandotte Lodge, and 33rd Degree through the Scottish Rite. He took the responsibility his father gave him, to watch over his five sisters seriously, as they all preceded him in death. Along with his wife, Bud is survived by three daughters, Connie and husband Hugh McGowan of Elgin, IL, Susan D. Voke of Overland Park, KS, and Marsha and husband James Frizelle of Kansas City, KS; one son, James Seymour of North Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren, Tamra Valdivia of Elgin, IL, Michael and wife Susan McBride of Lakeland, FL, Jennifer and husband David James of Wichita, KS, Jessica Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Jacklynn and husband Justin Walters of Kansas City, KS, Jim Frizelle of Kansas City, KS, Rebecca and husband Pat Lofredo and Jamie and husband Chris Standish of Kansas City, KS, and Guy Seymour of Las Vegas, NV; and 11 great-grandchildren, Trisha Valdivia of Elgin, IL, Lee and wife Noelle Giddens of Tampa, FL, Mark and Bradley McBride of Lakeland, FL, Michael James of Wichita, KS, Grace Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Tanner, Tristyn and Teaya Grube of Kansas City, KS, Sidney McLaughlan and Adrian Abina of Kansas City, KS. “Uncle Bud” will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, especially at family gatherings.
