Irene was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 17, 1940 to Lucille Sturgeon & Stanley Trzcinski and was the eldest of 5 siblings, whom she called “her babies” – Bertha Ann, John, Denise, & Richard.
She met Adolph Karl Weber in 1953 at a roller-skating rink and she “chased after him until he caught her.” He taught her how to sign under the street lamps at Wyandotte High School and they fell deeply in love. They were married on October 1, 1955 and shared nearly 65-years of a fairy-tale love until his death in 2018. From their love came their children - Stanley, Karl , & Mary (Missy); grandchildren – Shannon, Heather, SaVannah, Rikki, & Jacob; great-grandchildren – Trevor, Emily, Aubrey, Logan, & Miley.
Family was her entire life and she would cook large meals every Sunday while the family gathered to visit. You could always see the pride and love as she fed her family and took care of everyone. She always loved to read and took in all the knowledge she could. She enjoyed the flowers in the spring but adored the fall and the change of the foliage colors more than anything. She & Adolph would sit and watch the sunsets at the end of the day and take in the awe of God’s beauty. In her later years, she loved re-watching Outlander, The Last Kingdom, Game of Thrones, & Call the Midwife. Irene always loved cats and had her little boy Mr. Doodles by her side the last several years.
Irene was known as “The Goddess of Interpreting.” She helped build and coordinate the Deaf/Interpreter training program at Johnson County Community College for over 30 years. She was very proud that she could bring a voice to the Deaf community, but was very humble in all her accomplishments. She preferred to blend into the background and allow the Deaf person to be seen and heard. She taught many Sign Language and Interpreter training classes during her time at JCCC. She touched so many lives during her career and guided many interpreters, both professionally and personally. She made many life-long friends in the interpreting world and cherished each of those people who touched her life.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Adolph Weber; Parents, Lucille and Stanley Trzckinski; Children, Michael Joseph and Mary Ann; Brother, Richard Trzcinski.
She is survived by: Children - Stanley Weber (Rose), Karl Weber (Connie), & Missy Weber-Mooney (Ross); Grandchildren – Shannon Whisenant (Chris), Heather Cliff (Jon), SaVannah Weber (Kevin), Rikki Toler (David), & Jacob Mooney; Great-Grandchildren – Trevor Whisenant (Kelsie), Emily Whisenant, Aubrey Cliff, Logan Cliff, & Miley Rogers; Siblings – Bertha Ann Trzcinski, Denise Garlett (Mike), & John Trzcinski. And many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
