It was Autumn,  1966  when Janice Judy Elven and I met in Girls Chorus class at Central Jr. High School In KC, KS.  We were both tall and in alphabetical order (Elven and Evans) we were destined to stand side by side during concerts. We’ve been the best of friends for over 50 years, standing side by side.
We loved to sing, and our grandchildren were astonished how many songs we knew.  I couldn’t begin to count the number of times we took road trips. We would break out in song and laughed until we cried.  

We shared intimate family secrets that remain locked in my heart.  No matter the situation, Janice kept a positive attitude.  Ok, there were definitely times she put on a happy face in public when she was struggling.  In private, she overcame adversity through reading “ the Word”  and praying. Her faith in God is the real thing that helped her cope with her challenges.  

And then, there was the strong willed Janice.  She liked being in control.  That’s possibly an understatement!  

Still, through  thick or thin, she was by my side when I found out Just a few months ago that I have incurable cancer in my bones.  She was my encourager and my most dependable  friend.

Janice was bossy, but loving and supportive.  She knew everything about me, and still loved me unconditionally.  

I am blessed that our paths crossed.  I feel a bit lost right now without her.  I loved her dearly and the memories are precious to me.  

May God comfort y’all- family  and friends.  She loved you everyone. My best friend forever Janice Judy Elven Wilt- free at last!



Janice was a sweetheart and I'm grateful we had a chance to work together in Mod 19.  She always was friendly and nice, even when you knew she or a family member was struggling, sick or challenged. She was helpful, supportive and encouraging. She will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to her loved ones.


Janice’s cubicle was not far from mine and it was a favorite stopping spot for me throughout the day, more frequently than management probably liked. I remember bringing in my portable DVD player so that we could watch “Cars”...I think it took 3 lunch hours. Sometimes when an “old” movie airs  on TV, I remember that  she and I had gone to it together.  She took me grocery shopping when I was recovering from my auto accident, for which I was extremely grateful.  I remember going  to a field where her family had gathered to shoot off fireworks, away from the city’s light pollution.  There are so many fond memories, including our last trip, to Jamesport.  She had such a wonderful spirit. 

Aunt Janice, 
     I will always remember your laughter and love. You will never be forgotten.  You always took the time to show others love and include them. I will cherish my memories of you... our sleepovers, camping trips, games, and all the secrets we shared. Your love for Christ was always front and center. I am thankful for you.

Janice was in my old mod 16 before they removed it and moved us elsewhere on different floors. We still saw each other in the cafeteria and it was always lovely to see her.  She always had a smile on her face as long as I knew her.  We would talk of our families and catch up with what was going on.  I will miss her as she was one of the truly nice people in this building.  I am so thankful I saw her and got to talk to her last week.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this loss. Monica Tisch 

I worked with Janice for most of the past 20 years. In recent years we rode the bus to work and had many conversations about our kids and grandkids on those rides. She was always quick to laugh, had a nice easy smile and loved to talk about what she was planning to do next with her grandchildren. Janice loved to talk with friends and when she could turn the conversation to Kris, Alex or Sydnee a special glow showed up in her face. May God comfort you in your loss because I can picture him giving her a big hug right now. I will miss her!
