John Henry Henry Gessner

John “Henry” Gessner, 72, passed away March 21, 2014. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 30th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. The graveside service will be Monday, March 31st at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Attn: Planned Giving Department, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Northcare Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, North Kansas City, Missouri 64116.

Henry was born March 1, 1942 to Harold and Charlotte Gessner. He spent the majority of his life in the Kansas City area. He married Patricia Dinger on September 26, 1964. Together, they had 3 children, Shawn, Stefanie and Shane. Henry worked in road construction and retired in 2004. Other than his family and pets, Henry’s great joys in life were cooking, gardening and caring for his lawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his special pet, Lil’ Bits. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia; son, Shawn; daughter, Stefanie (Scott); son, Shane (Cami); brother, Bernard (Judy) Gessner; sisters, Mary Lou (Gerald) Vanderlin; Margo (Richard) VanLeur, Charlotte (James) Hatlestad, Charlene (Allen) Gault; grandchildren, Christopher, Katlin, Kiley, Taylar, Halie “Turdette”, Aiden “Papa’s Big Turd”, an expected grandbaby, special nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends.
