Kenny was born on August 3, 1936, in Gunter, Texas and married the love of his life, Nancy in 1957. Kenny was devoted to Nancy for 65 years until she passed away in January of this year. Kenny was so very loved by his wife, his children, grandchildren, great grand children and every one who ever knew him. He was known to be a very honorable and kind man with a heart of gold.
Kenny came from very humble beginnings. Born and raised on a farm, working the cotton fields, and raising most all their own food. When he was 15 he had a dream that he would own his own business, buying and selling for a profit. At 16, he was hired by a service station in Gunter, Tx. where he pumped gas and cleaned windshields. That company was Hudson Oil. That was the beginning of his career in the Petroleum Marketing Business.
Kenny joined the U.S. Army Reserves in 1956 at the age of 20. He became a Sergeant First Class. He spent 6 years in the Reserves.
Kenny opened his first service station in 1963. At one point he owned and operated 18. At 87 years young, at the time of his passing, he still operated one store in Princeton, Mo. He so loved his work to his dying day.
During his career, he became involved with the Missouri Oil Marketers Association. and the Kansas Petroleum Marketers Association. He lobbied for and against laws that affect marketers and convenience stores. He became President of the Missouri Marketers Association in 1993 and President of the Servco Corporation which was owned by the Kansas Petroleum Marketers Association. He was very proud of his career in the Petroleum business. Always a man of honesty and integrity.
Kenny is survived by 3 sons, 3 daughter-in-loves, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. They will miss their “pops”, their grandpa Kenny, their Papa Kenny as he was called. He was a very special man and will be greatly missed by so many.
