Kim, the only daughter of Maurice and Paula Plummer, was born on November 17, 1959. Kim grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, and attended Shawnee Mission West. There she met some of her lifelong best friends. Growing up, Kim always had a story to tell and, of course, she told it with bunches of laughter.
Kim loved her kids more than anything. She birthed four beautiful children: Jessica, John, Jena, and Jackie. She loved playing jokes on her kids. Along with teasing her kids, she fiercely cheered them on. She loved watching Jess graduate with her Master’s in Behavior Analysis, Jena birth two beautiful children, John graduate with his Bachelor's in Computer Science, and Jackie go on mission trips. She loved nothing more than being Grandma Kim (the giver of the best gifts) to Phoebe and Ruth. Kim also loved being a friend to all. She was always sending her friends inspirational quotes, lovely gifts, and a funny story. Kim loved to laugh. She always said, “Sometimes it is best to laugh it off,” and to “not take life too seriously.” Kim was a coffee addict, avid listener, and lover of animals (particularly cats). Kim was obsessed with frogs, both the animal and the acronym FROG, which stood for “Fully Rely On God."
Kim is survived by her four children, Jessica, John, Jena (husband Matt) and Jackie, and her grandchildren Ruth and Phoebe. The family will host a celebration of life on July 19 from 10am-12pm at Legacy Church (14301 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66223) . In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Indian Valley PTA, 11600 Knox, Overland Park, KS 66210, Memo: “Kim Winne.” Kim’s parents were both educators, and her children and grandchildren attended the beautiful school of Indian Valley.
