Lola lived in Kansas City, Kansas most of her life. She attended Twin Springs Elementary in Olathe, Kansas and Horanif School in Kansas City, Kansas before graduating from Washington High School in 1941. In 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Les Walker, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. She supported Les as an Army wife during World War II and became a mother. She was a full-time mother and supporting wife. She and Les raised their 8 children, while he built homes and then later became owners of Muncie Bowl. She loved sewing, ceramics, painting, and all things crafty. Most of all, she loved traveling with Les, from camping to cruises, but mostly spending time in South Texas as Winter Texans for 25 years. She led exercise class, sang on stage, and won beanbag competitions. When in Kansas City, her home was filled with loving kids and grandkids.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Denver J. Vaughn and Julia A. (Gabel) Vaughn, her sisters, Louise Blansit and Mary Hecht, her beloved husband Leslie D. Walker, her son-in-law, Patrick J. Roths, and her granddaughter, Kirsten Walker Philip.
Survivors include her children, Bill Walker (Marianne), Ft. Worth TX, Jeanette Roths (PJ Roths, decd.), Lafayette LA, Ron Walker (Sharyn), Fayetteville AR, Denise Hoffman (Ed), Basehor KS, Leslie McAfee (Stan), Kansas City KS, Dan Walker (Michelle), Erie CO, Jim Walker (Sandy), Erie CO, Jennifer Newsom (John), Kansas City MO, 30 Grandchildren, 44 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1006 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Lola will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill-Butler Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
