Margaret Ann Peterson of Tonganoxie, KS, passed away on March 8, 2020 while visiting at the home of her daughter in Rosemount, MN. She was 94 years. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. A private interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Margaret (Peggy) was born on December 22, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas to Robert E. and Eunice Bell (Gray) Brown. She grew up in Kansas City and attended Wyandotte High School graduating with the Class of 1942. After high school, she worked as a sales clerk at a downtown Kansas City, MO department store then married Fredrick O. Peterson on December 14, 1943. And to this union three children were born, Fred, Connie, and Nickie. She spent most of her working career after her youngest started school as an Office Clerk at Pyramid Life Insurance Company.
After retirement Peggy and Fred moved to Mission, TX to care for her parents. They both enjoyed making friends and all the events at the Aladdin Villa retirement community for over 28 years. Dancing, bowling, swimming, traveling and partying the entire time. They then moved to Tonganoxie in 2008 to live with their daughter, Nickie. They loved being closer to their family and friends. After Fred’s death in 2015, Peggy traveled with her daughters to many places including a Caribbean cruise, a visit to Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, a month in Honolulu, HI and several family visits to Gig Harbor, WA as well as Minneapolis, MN. She was an avid reader and contributor on Facebook, Pinterest and email with family and friends. She always had the last word (which was usually “K”) as she felt all her friends’ posts were personal and it would be impolite not to respond.
Peggy was a member of Sunset Hills Christian Church in Kansas City, KS. Her God-given talents included being a wonderful artist and seamstress. She made her own and both her daughters’ (and their dolls’) clothes. She also designed and made many wedding gowns and outfits for family and friends over the years. In addition, she was a fine needlework artist, creating beautiful hardanger, embroidery, and crochet. Her most recent efforts were crocheting hundreds of newborn and preemie baby hats that she donated to hospitals in Kansas City, Minneapolis and Gig Harbor. Her talent also included drawing personalized cards for her loved ones. Peggy was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, of 71 years; her parents, Robert and Eunice; her sister Alice, an infant brother and her grandson, Scott.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Fred (Cathy) Peterson; daughters, Connie (Winston) Naylor, Nickie (Tony) Perry; four grandchildren and their spouses, fourteen great grandchildren along with many other family members and friends.
