Marion Jeanette (Jan) Phillips Hohenshell, age 94, of Kansas City, KS , passed away peacefully at home on April 24th, 2024. Jan was born to Frank L. Phillips and Irene M. Phillips on November 9th, 1929, in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1947. Jan attended Platte Woods United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
The Lord blessed her with three boys, C. Mark Hohenshell (Debbie) of St. Charles, MO; S. Craig Hohenshell (Jacque) of Linn Creek, MO; & John M. Hohenshell (Christine) of Olathe, KS.
Jan was a creative person. Her talents included art, interior design, floral design, party planning, fashion, and she had a fondness for Southwest jewelry, Native American art and pottery. Jan had many jobs over the years but spent 26 years with Sam’s Club in Sales & Marketing and later in the jewelry department before retiring at 86! Jan was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles M. Phillips and great granddaughter Mackenzie Asher.
She is survived by her eight grandchildren, Marty Hohenshell of Kansas City, MO; Matthew Hohenshell (Stephanie) of Ozark, MO; Heather Sapp (Brian) of Holt Summit, MO; Nicole “Niki” Asher (Jayson) of Yukon, OK; Dustin Koetter of St. Charles, MO; Austin Hohenshell of St. Charles, MO; Avanlea Kilgore (Brayden) of Lenexa, KS; & Savannah Amri Kilgore (Dalton) of Shawnee, KS. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Dylan (22), Jackson (17), Kailee (14), Connor (12), Arianna (8), Quest (6), Laiken (6), Adventure (4) & Unity (3). A special acknowledgement to her loving niece, Rene Marlar of Anna, TX and best friend, Jacelyn Coldren of Kansas City, MO.
A visitation for Jan will be held on Wednesday, May 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 94th & State Ave., Kansas City, KS. Graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Pastor John Bryden will be officiating the Celebration & graveside services. Pallbearers are Dustin Koetter, Jayson Asher, Jackson Asher, Lee Huddleston, Max Coldren and John Sinnett.
