

Mary Ann Lacy, 95, of Bonner Springs, passed away April 28, 2013 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2nd at Holy Angels Church, 15408 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor, KS 66007. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. preceding the service at the church. Interment will follow the Mass in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Mary Ann was born March 19, 1918 in KCK to Mirko and Rose (Butkovic) Kusan. She grew up in the Strawberry Hill area and attended St. John the Baptist Church and School. Mary Ann married Anthony Lacy and enjoyed 70 years as his wife, best friend and partner. They moved to the Basehor area in 1978 and have been Holy Angels members for 35 years. Mary Ann was a magnificent cook, everyone loved her povitica. She was an avid gardener and spent many happy hours tending to her flowers.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Mirko and Rose Kusan, her beloved husband, Anthony Lacy, son-in-law, James W. Roper, grandson, Robert Lacy, sisters, Rose Draskovich, Barbara Czerwonka and Helen Baier.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Marianne Roper of Basehor, KS, her son, Raymond Lacy and wife Helen of Woodridge, IL; sister, Bernice Kusan; five grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Roper, Timothy Lacy, John Roper, Julie Hawk and her husband Steve, Mark Lacy and his wife Chris, Suzanne Owens and her husband Cornell; nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
