

Norman Charles Vossler, Sr. 90, of Shawnee, KS passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27th at the Chapel-Hill Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harden Hospice or Bethel Congregation of Community of Christ.
Norman was born October 19, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas to Edwin and Katherine Vossler. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, a graduate of Wyandotte High School and a member of Bethel Congregation of Community of Christ. Norman was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II and he worked at Sealright for 43 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1985. Norman was a past member of VFW 7026. In High School he was on the varsity swim team. He enjoyed going to and watching sports on televison, especially Kansas City baseball, both the "A's" & the "Royals". He loved bowling. After retirement he bowled in several leagues, and also had served as President of the Men's Thursday Senior League.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sons-in-law, Jim Laird and Terry Bunkers. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bonnie R. Vossler of the home; 3 children, Pennie Bunkers of Lenexa, Kansas, Roberta Laird of Kansas City, Kansas, and Norman Vossler, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Tonganoxie, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Tami Dolan and her husband Barry, Traci Bunkers, Tonya Pride and her husband Jeremy, Denise Herrman and her husband David, Jim Laird, Jr. and his wife Jenny, and Matthew Vossler; 9 great-grandchildren, Bryan Dolan, Mitchell Dolan, Mason Pride, Noah Pride, Jerry Herrman, Jordon Herrman, Jayden Herrman, Carter Laird, and Morgan Laird.
