

Pat was born on March 19th, 1946, in Jefferson City, MO to Elzie Harold and Margaret Belle Stark. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Lawrence Gibson, and her second husband, William Montgomery. She is survived by her two children, Laurie (Harrison) and husband Dave Spezia of Leavenworth, KS, son Luke Gibson of Tonganoxie, KS, brother Dane and wife Renee Stark of Augusta, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat earned a bachelor's degree in education at UMKC and later a master's degree at Emporia State University. She taught high school English in Kansas City, KS, Leavenworth, and Tonganoxie schools. She was honored to become a member of the Kansas Teacher’s Hall of Fame.
Pat loved others as evidenced by her adoption of her two children, Laurie and Luke. She loved teaching and being involved with our youth. Pat loved animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed reading and watching movies and TV in her spare time. She especially liked Tom Clancy novels and the TV show NCIS. One of her favorite songs was Wind Beneath My Wings.
A celebration of life will be held at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, located at 701 N 94TH St, Kansas City, KS. The celebration will be held Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
