Peter J. Belske Jr., ‘Pete”, age 80, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away March 30, 2012.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114 or to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66109.
Pete was born June 25, 1931 In Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Peter Michael and Sophia Dombroski Belske. A lifelong Wyandotte County resident, he attended St. Casimir Catholic School and graduated from De La Salle Academy. Pete was a meat cutter and worked for Kroger for 25 years before working for Fred Balls and Price Choppers until retiring in 1994. He was a member of UFCW Local #2. He was a former member of St. Cyril Catholic Church and has been a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 50 years where he was a former member of K. of C. and an usher. An avid KU Basketball fan, he loved all sports and coached his son’s little league baseball team. Pete enjoyed going to the Casinos, Lawrence Welk, Country Music and going to Branson to see shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sons: Douglas and Mark.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Ethel M. (McNiel) Belske; children: Deborah Gray and husband Todd of Kansas City, Kansas, Gary and wife Sue of Arlington, Texas, Richard and wife Dawn of Raymore, Missouri & Susan Knipp and husband Herman III of Louisburg, Kansas; sister: Catherine Younker of Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Clinton Belske, Michael Belske, Marissa Belske, Jacob Belske, Katelyn Belske, Herman Knipp IV and Mandy Knipp; and one great-granddaughter: Nicole Belske.
