Rachel McGinnis, 68, of KCK, passed away July 16, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 19th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2203 Parallel Pkwy, KCK. Friends may call from 10-11 at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 2220 Central Ave, KCK 66102.
Rachel was born April 8, 1945 in KCK to Peter and Juanita (Ramos) Alcanter. A lifelong area resident, she graduated Ward High School and also the Bethany Nursing Program. Rachel worked as a registered nurse for Bethany Hospital for many years, retiring in the late 1970s. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament and married her beloved husband, Jimmie. Rachel loved KC Chiefs football; she enjoyed baking and never missed a chance to play bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Juanita Alcanter.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Jimmie McGinnis of the home; two sons, Daniel McGinnis of KCK and David McGinnis of KCK; one step-son, Mike McGinnis of KCK; one step-daughter, Keli McGinnis of KCK; two grandchildren, Caynen and Milania McGinnis; three brothers, Robert, Michael and Peter Alcanter, Jr; as well as one sister, Mary Pruett.
