Raymond L. Amos, 85, retired pipefitter, business manager Local 533, has joined his wife, Deloris in death, on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Those that knew him well and loved him, called him Leonard. It's hard not to remember his wonderful sense of humor. Him telling a joke, often one you had a heard a hundred times before, and still laughing like you were hearing it for the first time. He was an eternal optimist, living his life with a positive attitude. He loved going to "the boat" to play poker and indulging in the all-you-can-eat buffet. We teased him about having the biggest sweet tooth in Kansas. He had quite the fashion sense, often wearing a cardigan sweater, and we rarely saw him without sporting one of his many hats.
Missing his love and laughter is his family, his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Amos, daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and David Allison; his grandchildren, Kris and Amy, Meaghan and Justin, Nathan; great- grandson, Lucas and numerous relatives from all over the country. He is leaving a void that can never be filled.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel located at 11200 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas 66210. The funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Johnson County Chapel. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located at 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
