

Rex C. Hanes, 85, passed away October 16, 2015 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 29th from 6:00-8:00 PM and funeral service will be Friday, October 30th at 11:30 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCKS 66112. Interment will be Friday, October 30th at 1:30 PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to John Knox Village House, 600 NW Pryor Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
Rex was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1930 to Myles Lacount Hanes, Sr. and Ruby (Nichols) Hanes. Rex served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked hard until retirement, as an iron worker for Local #10. For many years, Rex was a member of the Heart of America Federation Square Dance Clubs. He loved to travel and square dance. It gave him many hours of enjoyment where he made many friends. He was dancing until he was no longer physically able.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Myles Lacount Hanes, Jr. and Richard E. Hanes. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Richard “Richie” (Linda) Hanes of Blue Springs, MO; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Hanes, Joshua (Sarah) Hanes and Rebekah Hanes; three great-grandchildren, Joel, Alice and baby Peter; brother, Ronald G. (Beverly) Hanes; sister-in-law, Lovenia Hanes; 2 nephews, a niece as well as many cousins in the Stillwater and Glencoe areas.
