

Ronald D. Benjamin, 59, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23rd, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Ron was born July 12, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and moved to the Kansas City Area with his family in 1957. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School. Ron was a skilled Carpenter and Cabinet Maker, owning and operating Cedar Craft Products, and since 1996, he has been a driver for Penny's Concrete Company. Ron also enjoyed boating, fishing, and almost any other activity that got him outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Ann Benjamin in 1957, and 1 brother, John W. Benjamin in 1975.
Survivors include his parents, Bill & Joyce Benjamin of Kansas City, Kansas; 2 daughters, Melissa Smith & her husband Jim of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Julie Swafford & her husband Dave of Shawnee, Kansas; 1 brother, Donald L. Benjamin & his wife Cheryl of Spring Hill, Kansas; and 4 grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Ethan Smith, Liam Swafford, and Jaxin Swafford.
