Sandy was born in Kansas City Kansas on November 16, 1955. She attended Raytown South High School with the Class of 1974 then continued her education at Longview Community College and graduated with an Associates in Psychology. She spent most of her years working with her husband, Gary, at his Chiropractic business in Independence, Missouri. Children and animals, especially dogs flocked to Sandy, as she was a gentle and caring soul. Sandy always put others first as she volunteered her time to the Women’s Crisis Center and the City Union Mission, where she served food and provided gifts to families that were less fortunate.
Sandy was also very active in her faith and church. She was a member of the Lenexa Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school at Sunrise Beach Baptist Church for many years. She also loved helping with the church’s Vacation Bible School in the summers. Sandy followed the Lord’s calling and shared his word overseas on a mission trip to India. In the fall of 2018 had the honor of being baptized in the River of Jordan while visiting Israel with her fellow church family.
Once Sandy was diagnosed with cancer and during her battle, she started composing a journal of her fight and trials she was facing, though she was not able to finish it, it contains a powerful message of the harshness of the disease and her perspective of it. She titled it, “The Trials of Cancer.”
Sandy loved spending time at the Lake of Ozarks and at the beach on Hilton Head Island. She loved shopping, decorating, fishing at the lake, yard work and landscaping. She also enjoyed cleaning and her home was a welcoming place to everyone. She loved her Lord, family, and friends and was the light of a room. Her greatest title was Grandma, to her only granddaughter, McKenna. She was so loved and will be dearly missed by many.
Sandy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bill and Doris Snavely and father Bill Richardson.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Gary Boring; daughter, Lisa Spry; stepson, Tyler Boring; granddaughter, McKenna Simons; mother, Irma Owen; sister Susan Yeager; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
