

Mrs. Sandra Jean (Kelley) Kimbrough, 69, Kansas City, KS, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was co-owner of Kimbrough Roofing, Inc. for over 45 years. She retired from TWA after 25 years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Sandra Jean (Kelley) Kimbrough was born on February 14, 1943, in Kansas City, MO to Sanford A. and Freda Kelley. They later moved to the Quindaro area of Kansas City, KS.
She accepted Christ at an early age at The First Baptist Church of Quindaro. She attended Vernon Elementary and Washington High School. In the beginning of her career she worked at the Wish-Bone Restaurant and was co-owner of Elmore’s Beauty Supply Company. She later worked for Hercules Ammunition Plant and TWA as a data entry clerk and librarian.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kevin G. Kelley.
She was united in marriage to James L. Williams, II, they later divorced. There were three children born to this union, (Sheila, James III and La Vita).
She was united in holy matrimony on September 29, 1973 to Delbert W. Kimbrough, Sr. This formed a blended family with his two sons, (Delbert Jr. and David) and her three children.
Sandra was a dedicated mother. She spent her life nurturing, loving and providing for her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved flowers and plants. She took in families’ and friends’ sick plants and nurtured them back to life.
She loved to travel to Las Vegas for her birthday and also visit the casinos in MO. She liked to listen to rhythm & blues and jazz; dance; play bid whist; and loved sports, especially football. She loved to go to the car shows, and her favorite was the antique cars.
Sandra also loved to cook. She cooked and prepared the family holiday dinners at her home for over 25 years.
She was a super friendly person and was loved by all.
Sandra will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Only God knows how much she will be missed by her baby sister and sidekick, Willa Mae.
Sandra leaves to cherish her loving memory, husband, Delbert W. Kimbrough, Sr., daughters, Sheila (Stephen) Johnson of Kansas City, KS, La Vita (John) Brandon of Greenwood, MO, sons, James L. (Kimberly) Williams, III of Greenwood, MO, Delbert W. (Tracy) Kimbrough, Jr., and David (Sherri) Kimbrough, Sr. both of Kansas City, KS, sisters Lolita (Willie) Richey of Scottsdale, AZ, and Willa McKinney of Kansas City, KS, brother, Sanford H. (Linda) Kelley of Albuquerque, NM, uncles, Prentice Jiles and Clinton Jiles both of Kansas City, MO, sisters-in-law, Helen Lampley of Chicago, IL, Dr. Kay Ann McKelvy of Kansas City, MO, Sharon Joyce Leake of Kansas City, KS, Mary Kimbrough of Edwardsville, KS, Gloria Kimbrough of Kansas City, MO, and Doris Kimbrough of Leavenworth, KS, brothers-in-law, Freddie Morris and Charles Kimbrough both of Detroit, MI, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
