Sherry Jean Franz

Mrs. Sherry Jean Franz of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away at 59 years old on September 18, 2021 at Lake of the Ozark Hospital. A viewing will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112 at 10:00 am. Following the viewing a funeral will be held at 11:00 am with graveside services thereafter. This service will also be available live on Chapel Hill-Butler’s Facebook Page. Sherry was born on October 18, 1961 to Robert and Patricia McEndree in Kansas City, Missouri. Sherry was raised by her mother Patricia (Pat) and stepfather Joseph (Jay) Shaffer. Sherry's hobbies included horseback riding, skiing, and driving her pontoon and speed boats fast enough to make your stomach jump to your chest. Sherry loved music, Reba was her favorite artist. She was devoted to her pets, especially cats.

Sherry worked in various occupations, often working two jobs at the same time. Those positions included Dispatcher and as a Code Enforcer for Kansas City, KS. She also loved bartending because it gave her the chance to meet so many people; Sherry never knew a stranger and got to exhibit her memory at the Flaming Bull. She retired as a bookkeeper from her parents company Jay's Plumbing.

Sherry liked to play as hard as she worked, she deserved a break! She was also a generous and kind person who opened her doors to friends in need, becoming their "Aunt Sherry" or "Second mom." Sherry will be dearly missed by her numerous friends both near and afar. She had many "sisters" that she loved.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father Robert McEndree; two stepsisters Deanna and Mary Louise Shaffer; her grandparents BJ and Betty George; her in-laws (John's parents, three brothers and one sister).

Left to cherish her memory is her husband John (former Master Seargent with the Kansas City, KS Police Dept.); her parents Pat and Jay Shaffer; son Shawn (Courtney) Franz; grandchildren Gage and Caden Bacon and Samantha Franz; along with many other dear family members and friends. Sherry will be greatly missed!
