Shirley C. Cahill

Shirley Carlene Cahill, age 78, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away April 3, 2012.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill, Thursday, April 5 from 5-7. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 6 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

Shirley was born March 26, 1934 in Armourdale, Kansas, the daughter of Russell and Genevieve Stoll. She attended Morris Elementary, Central Jr. High and graduated from Argentine High School. She was an accomplished dancer and model and was a dance instructor in her own studio. A licensed real estate agent, she had her own Escrow Company. Shirley was the buyer for the Better Dresses & Bridal Clothing for the Jones Store Co. She met her soul mate: Robert J. Cahill; they were married March 25, 1966 after a 30 day courtship and have been married 46 years. Her joy in later years was watching and attending sporting events of her grandson Miles. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s nine years ago and was taken care of by her husband, Robert. Shirley passed at their home in Shawnee surrounded by her family and the wonderful staff of Vitas hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Russell and Genevieve (O’Donnell) Stoll.

She is survived by her husband: Robert Cahill of the home; daughters: Jennifer Tate &husband Steve of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Janey Everhart & husband Randy of Shawnee, Kansas; 5 grandchildren: Kathleen Langford & husband Bill, Carlene Tate, Jenny K. Hufford & husband Grant, Miles Malec and Kelsey Malec; and 5 great-grandchildren: Haley Grace, Jackson, Ethan, Bryce & Tatem.
