Shirley Jane Nicholson passed away at home on April 19th, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th, 2025. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Chapel Hill - Butler funeral home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Shirley was born on March 19, 1940, in Mountain View Missouri. She resided at her home in Kansas City, Kansas with her husband Don for over 60 years.
Shirley spent her youth in Mountain View Missouri and graduated from Mountain View high school in 1958. After high school she followed her big sister Jolene to Kansas City, Missouri where she went to work for Hallmark.
Shirley married Don Nicholson on March 23, 1963 after his discharge from the United States Navy. She had met Don while she was still in high school.
Shirley spent most of her time after marriage, taking care of her 2 sons as well as her home she would own for the rest of her life. Her hometown was always very important to her and she was known to visit the area and her family there frequently. Shirley enjoyed collecting 50s and TWA memorabilia as well as all things Elvis. She was also known to collect a beanie baby or two. She and Don were particularly proud of their Fifties themed basement complete with a Rock Ola jukebox and diner booth.
After her husband's retirement in 1993 they enjoyed traveling, visiting such destinations as Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, San Diego and many others.
Shirley and Don were active for many years in the group compassionate friends after their son Bart passed away in an automobile accident.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Don Nicholson, son, Bart Nicholson, brother, Roger Morris, father Joe Morris and mother Genevieve Morris. She is survived by; her son, Gary Nicholson and her sister Jolene Nicholson.
