Born on September 1, 1959, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Susan's journey was marked by unwavering faith, dedication to her work, and deep love for her family. For nearly three decades, Susan served with distinction at the United States Bankruptcy Court. Her 29-year tenure not only reflected her intelligence and diligence but also her steadfast commitment to excellence. She was known among colleagues for her professionalism and integrity-qualities that earned her respect and admiration throughout the legal community.
Susan was a woman of great faith who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her spiritual foundation guided every aspect of her life and provided strength through all seasons. She carried herself with grace and humility, offering kindness and encouragement to those around her.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures. A passionate reader and avid gardener, Susan cherished quiet moments spent tending to her plants or getting lost in a good book. She also had a deep appreciation for British television dramas-especially period pieces-and counted "Call the Midwife" among her favorite shows. BritBox TV was a beloved companion during many evenings of relaxation.
Her love for exercise kept her energized and grounded; it was one of the many ways she cared for herself with intention and discipline.
Susan's greatest legacy is her family. She is survived and forever cherished by her only child, Alyssa Anne Franklin-Herron (Grandcats: Georgia, Luna, Delilah), who was her greatest pride and joy. She will be deeply missed by her sisters: Christine Lasley (John) Debra Franklin, Pamela Franklin, Kim Franklin, Ann Franklin-Hill (Teresa), Karen Franklin, bonus sister Jan Love (Paul), brother Michael Franklin, her beloved three nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces and seven great-nephews. She will also be missed by a large extended family, close friends, and coworkers.
Susan now rests in peace in the Arms of the Angels joining her parents, Eula and Adolph, Sr. and her brother, Adolph (David) Jr., who preceded her in death.
The family will honor Susan with a private burial. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time, with details to be shared once finalized.
