

Thomas Vincent Fielden, 86, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 22, 2013. Tom survived two prior bouts with cancer before finally succumbing to the disease. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26th at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 27th at the church. Inurnment will follow the Mass in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Any donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
Tom was born to the late Thomas Fielden and Mary Loretta Donegan Fielden on October 12, 1927 in Kansas City, KS. He attended St. Peter's grade school and was a football and basketball athlete at Bishop Ward High School. He volunteered for the Marines and served active duty in World War II, and later attended St. Benedict's College. Tom married Mary Ellen Garvey in 1952. They raised four children and lived happily together in the home he built. Tom was employed at Sweet Lumber Company 40 years. Tom and Mary Ellen have been members of St. Patrick's Parish for over 50 years.
Tom was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Dumovich and Dorothy Fielden. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen Fielden; their four children: Lorie, and her husband Steve Schafer; Lisa Fielden; Tom Fielden and his wife Nell; and Chris Fielden and his companion, Patricia Janes; and grandchildren: Peter, Simon, and Sam Schafer; and Jack and Kate Fielden, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Tom was the patriarch of a family that continues to thrive on the values that he lived by. Through 61 years of marriage filled with cross country road trips with four kids in the back of the station wagon, coaching, and riding bikes grandkids; he was forever dedicated to his family. He will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
