

Tim Lyons, 32, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on October 20, 2017 after a sudden and tragic illness. A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held from 5:00-7:00pm with a service at 7:00pm, Thursday, October 26th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established to ensure children have access to musical instruments and lessons. Please contact the family for more information.
Tim was born April 7, 1985 in Johnson City, New York to Paul and Marilyn Lyons. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout at 14 and graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 2003. Tim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theater and Film from the University of Kansas in 2008. He worked for Channel 6 in Lawrence and for Apple over five years as a Senior Technical Advisor. From his childhood, Tim was an excellent singer and songwriter; singing and playing guitar for bands such as Rust, L.I.E., and Kansas City Bastards. Tim’s YouTube channel, Kansas City Bastards features a variety of musical content, product reviews, and podcast episodes. Tim was a longtime member of the ASCAP Musician’s Union. Tim met the love of his life, Gloria, through a mutual friend after a short courtship, they knew they were perfect for one another. On 11-12-13, they were married in a Back to the Future inspired ceremony and reception. Tim and Gloria shared their lives with a large group of friends and family and recently bought a home to house their dogs, Nibbler and Pepper, and their parakeet, Elsa. He was preceded in death by his beloved uncle, Jim Lyons.
Tim is survived by his wife, Gloria Lyons; his parents, Paul and Marilyn and his brother, Dan Lyons; his grandmother, Elouise Lyons; his best friends, Jeff and Shannon Elliott; his Kansas City Bastards band family; as well as aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
