

Virginia M. Hays, 79, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away December 19, 2018 at Providence Medical Center. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00pm, Saturday, December 22nd at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Virginia was born August 3, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to John and Helen Modrcin. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School and attended Mount St. Scholastica College. Virginia worked as a secretary for Lee Jeans; and retired after many years working for the State of Kansas Unemployment Office. She enjoyed spending time at the Merriam Community Center having lunch and playing cards. Virginia also enjoyed watching television and going shopping, when she wasn’t spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Modrcin.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Theresa Walter (Chris) of KC, MO, and Mary Weiskopf (Eric) of Springfield, MO; her grandchildren, Jackie Collins (Justin), Kate Walter, Ian Walter (Nicole), Tabatha Raudabaugh (Tom), and Austin Weiskopf; her great-grandchildren, Bentley Jones, and Josslyn Halpain; her brother John Modrcin, Jr., as well as nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
