

Vivian Sherrell, 96, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 10 at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Vivian was born December 2, 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri. A lifelong KC resident, she graduated from Paseo High school at the age of 15. During the Depression, she worked for Dunn & Bradstreet and then later she worked as a secretary for Traveler’s Insurance, retiring in 1975. She was a longtime member of the Covenant Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Vivian taught bible study at her senior residence until 3 months ago. She loved bowling and was an avid gardener, growing tomatoes and corn and selling them with her husband. Vivian enjoyed fishing and loved her family and God more than anything.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie Lee Sherrell, her siblings, George Mack, Frances Simms, Aldeen Weeks, daughter Diane Erickson and son-in-law Samuel S. Howard, III.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Karen Howard; grandchildren Julie D. Dartt, Shellie L. Foulk and husband John Bate, Johnny L. Erickson, and Dustin M. Erickson; great-grandchildren Joshua W. Blansit, Samuel W. Bate, J. J. Bate, Sarah Dartt, J.C. Dartt, Amber Dartt, and Jaden L. Erickson; and great great-grandchildren Josef Blansit, Angelene Blansit and Jericho Blansit.
