Wanda was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to William and Beulah McCall on July 7, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Edward Bertella, and five of her six siblings, Bertha Joan Kresyman, Erma Jean Clifton, Carolyn S. Butler, Joyce Redding and Billy Wayne McCall. She is survived by her brother James Bromagem and wife Fay of Florence, Arizona. Sister In-Law, Aileen McCall of Oklahoma City, OK. Three sons, Gerald W. Hand and wife Lyndie, Russell D. Hand and wife Cindy, Vernon D. Pickett and wife Sally and her “adopted” son Jeff Hammond and wife Lynn of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Wanda had several jobs throughout her life but the job she loved most was taking care of children. They affectionately called her “Granny” and still do! Her favorite pastime was garage sailing. She would always say that her car wouldn't pass a garage sale sign. She could spot them a mile away. Family and friends benefited from the many treasures she would find. She was always buying for others, and not paying full price either. Negotiating the price was part of the fun.
She had an amazing and witty sense of humor. It was comedy hour when she shared stories with friends and family. She was an amazing Mom, "Granny" and "Gigi" who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Our family will not be the same without her.
Along with Wanda we will also be celebrating the life of her sister Bertha Joan Kresyman and brother-in-law, Billy Joe Kresyman.
The viewing for family and friends will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 701 N. 94th, Kansas City, KS 66112 on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Visitation will take place from 10:30 – 12:30 and service following. Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 1:30 for Wanda and 2:30 for Bill & Joan.
The family of Wanda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Stratford Commons Rehabilitation and Health Care and Monarch Hospice.
