Born on October 24, 1934, in Kansas City, MO to Maurice and Alice Briggs, Joyce grew up in Independence, MO. It was there that she met her beloved S.L.(Brad) Bradley, whom she married on July 5, 1952. They initially lived in Florida and Texas while Brad served in the Navy before settling in Belton in the mid 1950’s.
Joyce delivered four children into the family: Lynda, Doug, Gary and Sandy. Her primary “job” was being a wonderful mother and homemaker, but she also helped keep the books for the family business. She was an active room mother, Cub Scout leader, baseball mom and taxi driver, but her “calling” was being a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Brad delighted in having large family gatherings for the holidays and were driven to see that each and every one in attendance had their needs met. In retirement they enjoyed traveling and antiquing.
After losing Brad in 2010, Joyce live independently in the family home in Belton until the time of her death.
She is survived by her children, Lynda Gough (Perry), Doug Bradley, MD (Charlotte) and Sandy Mickelson of Belton, and Gary Bradley of Leawood, KS., her grandchildren, Christopher Gough (Stacey), Nicholas Lueck, Megan Behning (Ray), Matthew Bradley (Mallory), Sarah Bradley (George), and Nicole Walton (Chris). Her twelve great- grandchildren brought tremendous joy to her life: Grayson, Gunner, Brayden, Brantley, Harrison, Coraline, Jack, Michael, Maximos, Aiden, Bradley and Ava. Three sisters, Jan Foreman, Lynn Willkom, and Patricia Metzger survive along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and her parents, Joyce is predeceased by her grandson, Casey Lueck, sister Beverly Willkom and brother Richard Briggs.
Graveside services for family members will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City.
Friends may attend a celebration of Joyce’s life at the family home on Friday, October 24 between 12:00 PM noon and 2:00 PM.
