Alice A. Brewer, 85, Independence, Missouri, passed away July 9, 2013 at The Rosewood Health Center. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nova Center, 8401 Hickman Mills Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64132.
Alice was born March 23, 1928 in Carrollton, Missouri, daughter of James and Gladys (Burkhart) Hayes. She was a member of Maywood Baptist Church. She had worked as an accountant for Commerce Bank for 27 years, retiring in 1996. Alice was also a member of Alpha Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael L. Brewer, her sister Wilma Eagle and brothers Carl and Leroy Hayes. Alice is survived by her son James Brewer, daughter Genelle Jackson, sisters Kessie Friesz, Donna Smoot, and DeEtta Friesz, brother James Hayes, many nieces, nephews, extended family and sorority sisters.
