Alice Captain

Alice Captain, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Captain; sister, Jane Petrakos; brother, Peter Dakis; and sister, Mary Marcellino.

Alice is survived by sons Peter Captain (Diana), Charlotte, NC; Jim Captain (Carolyn), Parsons, KS; Chris Captain (Becky), Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Alice was born October 24, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio. It was there that she met her loving husband of over 50 years, George. They moved to Kansas City in 1955.

Alice was an avid golfer and spent much of her time on the links of the Brookridge Country Club in Overland Park or in Sun City West, AZ to where she and George later retired. An accomplished bowler, she won a city-wide bowling tournament in Kansas City. Alice loved to read and paint and especially enjoyed being around people while working as a Sales Rep at Krigel’s Fine Jewelry and also behind the pharmacy counter at Bruce Smith Drugs.

She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Kansas City. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO from 6:00pm – 8:00pm where a Trisagion service will take place at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Noon, Saturday

February 2, 2013 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
