

Anna Jo Flora, 83, passed peacefully on October 21, 2010, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Born to Anna Jo Farrell, Jo grew up in Lancaster, Missouri, and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she met the love of her life, Bill Flora. Jo and Bill lived in southern Kansas City, Missouri, for the past 57 years. She worked as an investigator for the I.R.S. and retired in l984. She was active in the PTA and Scouting for her children, a member of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, a member of Eastern Star, a volunteer for many years at St. Joe Medical Center, and a 60-year member of the PEO Sisterhood. Anna Jo was preceded in death by her twin sister, Margaret, who died in infancy, and her parents, Lucile and Webster Farrell. Jo is survived by her husband of 64 years, William G. Flora; three children, William J. Flora of Parkville, David F. Flora of Overland Park, and Terry Culbertson Carney of Stanley, Kansas. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Katie Culbertson Janes, Annie Culbertson Carolla, Chris Culbertson, Sollie Flora, Will Flora, Shelby Flora, Taylor Flora; and 2 step-grandchildren, Dane and Shauna Culbertson. Her great grandchildren are Kyra and Isabelle Janes, and Carson Carolla. Jo cherished her family and loved to play bridge. She played in many bridge groups over the years, most recently at Grand Court of Kansas City. As a hands-on grandma, she was simply the best. She is loved greatly and will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on October 23rd at Mount Moriah and Freeman, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Condolences may be made at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
