
GEORGE WILLIAM TAYLOR ANNA MAE “ANN” SELLE TAYLOR George William Taylor, 80, and Anna Mae “Ann” Taylor, 86, passed away September 9, 2014. Memorial service will be 10am, Saturday, September 13, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Raytown, 10500 Missouri Hwy 350, Raytown, MO 64138. Visitation will be 4-6:30pm, Friday, September 12, at the church. George and Ann were lovingly married for 47 years and blended two beautiful families. They were vibrant, young at heart and dedicated themselves to family. They were strongly involved in a network of friends and community, bringing beauty into everything. George was born in Culpeper, VA, the youngest of 9 children. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 serving during the Korean War. After honorable discharge from the military, he established residence in the Kansas City area; where he worked on numerous important local landmarks as a Union brick mason. As a member of The Over the Road Gang, he had a passion for classic street rods. George was also an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. Ann was born in Kansas City, MO, the youngest of 3 children. She was the Court Clerk for the City of Grandview for many years. She also owned and ran an antique shop, “The Cottage”, in Belton, MO. The daughter of an Orphan Train Rider, she was involved in the Missouri Historic Society’s preservation of its history; participating in reunions and reenactments. Founder of a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, The Flaming Dames, Ann was active in the area’s art and culture scene. They were preceded in death by George’s siblings: Helen Dye, McArthur Taylor, James Taylor, Louise Reed, and Julia Leathers; and Ann’s siblings: Gene Selle and Dorothy Finlay. They are survived by children & their spouses: Larry and Ellen Taylor, Deborah and Bob Fite, G.W. and Sherry Taylor, Vickie DeWitt, Scott and Vickie Anderson; George’s siblings: Mildred Greathouse, Dorothy Hitt and Olive “Doodle” Jenkins; grandchildren: Josh, Katie, Kara, Cherie’, Christine, Holly, Richard, Jeremy and Jason; and numerous great-grandchildren.
