

Anthony G. “Tony” Cisneros, 57, of Leavenworth, KS, formerly of Kansas City, MO died Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home. A Memorial Mass will be 9:00 a.m Thursday, August 2 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Fathers Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel.
Tony was born October 30, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to Augustine G. and Mary Louise (Guerra) Cisneros. He attended DeLaSalle High School and Bishop Lillis High School after DeLaSalle closed. He made the varsity football team at DeLaSalle as a freshman, winning the “Brown Jug” after defeating Rockhurst in 1971 and winning the state championship that same year. He was an Air Force Vietnam veteran, specializing in military canine training. He became a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Local #2, working with Standard and Zahner most of his career. A KC Chiefs fan, Tony loved to play football. He also enjoyed cycling, running, and home improvement projects. He participated in many 5K events around the metro area. After working all day, Tony often installed air conditioners and furnaces for many of his family, friends, and others seeking assistance. He treasured being with his family, including his beloved dogs, “KC” (deceased) and “Trouble” (a 7 year old poodle).
Tony was preceded in death by his mother Mary Louise Cisneros and sister, Alice Hawver. Tony is survived by his father, Augustine “Tino” Cisneros of Kansas City, MO; brother, Larry Cisneros (Susan of Merriam, KS; sister, Mary Louise (Marilou) Krech of Leawood, KS; 15 nieces and nephews including Deborah Hudson and Richard Hawver (Modesta).
