Barbara J. (Lowe) Duckett, or Barbie to her friends, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 4, 2010. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon- 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Barbie was born in Topeka, Kansas and was a lifelong resident of Prairie Village, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert P. (Duck) Duckett, Jr.; her parents Ollie and Bernice Lowe of Ozawkie and Oskaloosa, Kansas; and a brother Harland Lowe of Ozawkie, Kansas. Barbie graduated from Ozawkie High School. She was a lady who absolutely loved to drive around town or across the country. She was a great mom, grandmother and wife and was at home both as a country and a city girl. Always smiling, Barbie was both active and popular in the community. It was often said that she was “president or chairman of every organization in which she was involved.” Barbie is survived by her son P. Michael Duckett and his wife Lee of Overland Park, Kansas; her daughter Pamela D. Burch of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
