
Barbara Jeanne Wood, 56, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, February 28, 2011, at Truman Medical Center- Lakewood. Graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Rockville Cemetery, Rockville, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Barbara was born April 11, 1954, in Independence, Mo. Barbara was a graduate from Lakeview Woods State School in 1972. She was employed at Southeast Enterprises Sheltered Workshop for over 32 years. She was a member of the Girl Scouts, participated in track and bowling events for Special Olympics, and also attended many Teen Town events for special education. Barbara loved to dance, fish, work on hook rugs and paint ceramics. She never met a stranger, she always had a smile and a hug for all and she will be greatly missed. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, J.E. and Fanny Wood. She is survived by two brothers, Howard Wood (Loretta "Jody") of Lee's Summit, Mo., and James Wood (Donna) of Rockville, Mo.; niece, Gayle and nephew, Howard Wood, Jr. (Nina) of Fort Scott, Kan.; two great nieces, Gracie and Nevaeh; two great nephews, Seth and Mason; aunts, uncles, and many friends.
