Bette was born December 9th (she wouldn’t want the year announced, of course) in Keytesville, Missouri to Raymond E. and Mabel (Sowers) Quick. She was the younger sister to Ted and Earl.
Her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Gerald E. West, preceded her in death in January, 2005.
Bette, a respected area realtor since 1968, was a member of Colonial Presbyterian Church’s Primetimers class and the Asbury Keenagers. She was a long-time board member of the Rehabilitation Institute Auxiliary and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Bette is survived by her three sons, Steve (Amy), Stuart (Cydney McQueen), and Scott (Renee) West, and her grandchildren, Hannah Bailey, Heather Leis, Bryson West, Sarah West, Whitney West, and Madison West, and her great-grandchildren, Hadassah and Elijah Bailey and Nova Leis.
A caring, generous of soul person, Bette lived her life as a Christian, treating everyone with respect and compassion. Every grandchild loved spending time with her as she took them on adventures, ranging from cooking to shopping and day-trips. An avid Kansas City sports fan, Bette enjoyed rooting for the Chiefs in the winter and the Royals in the spring. A strong person and devoted wife, Bette managed to take care of her husband, who had multiple sclerosis, raise three lively boys, work as an in-demand realtor, and have dinner on the table by 6 pm.
She will be missed, but our loss is God’s gain.
Private Services will be held at Colonial Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, Bette had requested contributions to the church or Rehabilitation Institute Auxiliary.
