Betty Provence, 95, passed away peacefully at home in Independence, MO on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Betty was born June 12, 1919 in Rosedale, KS, the daughter of Johnny and Ida May Cockrell. She worked for 13 years at Bendix Corporation as a milling machine operator and later worked at Truman Medical Center in the housekeeping section. While at Bendix, Betty met and married L.L. Provence, her husband of 52 years. She is remembered fondly by her many friends, for her ready smile, quick wit and kindness.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. She is survived by her husband, her son Gary, her sister Velma Hall, three grandsons, their wives, 12 great-grandkids, and five great-greatgrandkids.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, followed by funeral service at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Betty will be laid to rest in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
